WHY HISTORY

Why History?
I find it odd that not everyone loves history?
Because history is about the stories of people.
It something that I think we’ve failed to do in teaching history. We learn dates. 1945 end of WW2.
But dates don’t matter without the people involved. In WW2, Churchill stood up to Hitler when everyone said they should sue for peace and said “We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”
See, there is so much more to all of this than dates. Stories of people. Of struggle. Of sacrifice. Of triumph and defeat.
Stories that defined who we are today.
Yup, that’s history.
